What is a Fibroadenoma? Is the most common type of breast benign tumor (not a cancer). Is a solid mass, with clearly defined edges, typically round or oval in shape.
What are the common symptoms? Fibroadenoma is sometimes palpable, may grow to a larger size over time. Some women find it uncomfortable and may have associated pain or tenderness. In some cases, fibroadenoma can physically deform the breast. Associated stress is individual, but should be also considered.
Fibroadenomas are usually detected during a self-examination test or clinical examination of the breast by a physician.
How are Fibroadenomas treated? Traditionally there were two options: watchful waiting or surgical excision. Today, a minimally invasive third option is available: Cryoablation.
